BMX is the extreme sport of racing on bikes on motocross style tracks with large jumps, obstacles and slaloms often played out on a soft dirt track.
BMX cycles tend to be made from steel, but the more expensive and professional grade BMX bikes can be made from aluminium as this provides a lighter frame and bike - ideal for racing. BMX bikes generally have a gear ration of around 2.8:1 providing advantages such as lighter weights and better clearance when grinding obstacles.
BMX bikes utilise 36 spoke wheels for the most part which vary from 18" to 26", whilst more aggressive riders tend to use 48 spoke wheels because of the extra strength.
