The first shop was originally known as F.W. Evans Cycles and was located on Kennington Road in south east London. Trading from this site for thirty years F.W Evans Cycles built up a strong reputation as a quality cycle shop and in particular building its own frames and bikes. In 1925 the company was presented with a silver plaque by the Cyclists Touring Club (The CTC) for ‘The greatest improvement in cycle design, construction or equipment during the year 1925’. The award was given for design and low cost production of a rear wheel dropout.

Purchased a Scott CR1 from Lakeside Evans and spent over £2500 on bike and other items. Took way to long to serve (50mins +)but staff were busy so accepted it. Had some problems with my first service which Im willing to accept that these things happen but had to take it back twice for the same thing. My last visit to collect my bike and purchase yet more equipment, again I had to wait over 50 minutes to pay and collect my bike. The lads who served me couldnt be more polite or helpful but the length of time taken to pay and get out the store is to long. This wasnt helped by only one of the staff able to sign off on the big purchases, this on a busy Saturday. Will be taking my business elsewhere in futur
After finding the bike I wanted, which appeared as being in stock at a different store (delivery to local store promised within 14 days), I placed the order, totalling around £460.
Got a call today, advising this bike was discontinued (I'm aware) and no stock could be located (stock was showing on the website, and allowed me to order, and charged me), could I pop into the Canary Wharf store to discuss alternatives.
Feel completely screwed over, in one of those no-win situations.
Should I get a refund, and wait the week (at least!?) it'll take for Evans to refund to my card, and still be bike-less. (This would at least make me feel better about Evans not getting my custom after being so useless).
Or do I choose an alternative, of which, for my needs I'm not aware of any anywhere near the same price range.
Just wish Evans would get their act together, and UPDATE THE STOCK ON THEIR WEBSITE.
For the record, the bike is STILL showing as in stock. (Trek 2nd district 58" frame).
I'll be going along to the store, hopefully I'll get some sort of result! But it's very likely I'll just ask for a refund and find a company that values my custom
