The first shop was originally known as F.W. Evans Cycles and was located on Kennington Road in south east London. Trading from this site for thirty years F.W Evans Cycles built up a strong reputation as a quality cycle shop and in particular building its own frames and bikes. In 1925 the company was presented with a silver plaque by the Cyclists Touring Club (The CTC) for ‘The greatest improvement in cycle design, construction or equipment during the year 1925’. The award was given for design and low cost production of a rear wheel dropout.
A random selection of reviews taken about this merchant. PLEASE NOTE: These are invidual opinions, and not our own experiences.
I recently purchased a Scott hybrid bike from Evans Cycles on the internet and have decided to right this review to highlight the excellent level of customer service I received even though my initial purchase was not perfect.
I purchased the Scott bike following a recommendation from the sales team who I contacted via the 'Contact us' email service. I received a response same day which was very efficient. Once I received the bike I realised the tyres were not suitable for my intended use, therefore questioning the recommendation I received. The problem was the bike had road/slick tyres yet I intended to use the bike for various leisure purposes (road, parks etc..) I didn't feel this was the safest option so contacted Evans Cycles to discuss.
In a nutshell, I contacted Evans sales team across email to discuss the option of replacement tyres and the fact the bike had been reduced since my initial purchase price in the last 7 days. All correspondents where dealt with promptly, professionally and all within the same day which exceeded my expectations. Although Evans could not exchange the tyres because they were not a stock item, they agreed to price match the bike and as a good will gesture make-up the difference to a pair of Specialized Armadillo tyres.
I have been a customer of Evans Cycles for my last 3 bikes because they offer the most competitively priced bikes and good overall service. Having now experienced a small hiccup in re
I regularly buy things from Evans, and my only complaint is cost. I tend to buy things in the sales, or I go to the shop so that I can get CTC discount. Without the discount, prices are more expensive than most other big cycle shops. Also, I have to be careful about prices, as for some items, I've found the shop price to be very much higher than the internet price. I have to research a product to decide the best way to buy it. On two occasions I have bought products with a very misleading description..
