The first shop was originally known as F.W. Evans Cycles and was located on Kennington Road in south east London. Trading from this site for thirty years F.W Evans Cycles built up a strong reputation as a quality cycle shop and in particular building its own frames and bikes. In 1925 the company was presented with a silver plaque by the Cyclists Touring Club (The CTC) for ‘The greatest improvement in cycle design, construction or equipment during the year 1925’. The award was given for design and low cost production of a rear wheel dropout.

  I am very pleased with the overall experience with Evans. Customer service was excellent and they went out of their way to help with the extra queries I had in relation to shipping to Australia. Based on my experience, I highly recommend this website to any Australian buyers - shipping was fast - in addition the purchase came in at less than AU$1000 so I was able to import tax free.
  I got a great town bike (Viva Papa) - one that is not available over here in Oz - and at a very good price. Fantastic!
  One thing to double check if you are aiming to buy at less than AU$1000 (to get it tax free): the exchange rate used in the final calculation of what you have to pay may be different to the price on the website - customs will look at the final cost shown on the invoice. This will be converted to AUD from GBP.

  I ordered a bike from Evans via the website (admittedly at agood price), in stock for delivery in 5-7 days, they say all fully built up and tested by one of their technicians. I eventually received the bike two and a half weeks later with two buckled wheels, badly adjusted gears and chips to the paint that had been badly touched up (used touch-up paint supplied). When I previously phoned them to ask where my bike was and was told that it was on it's way to the warehouse from one of their branches..
