The first shop was originally known as F.W. Evans Cycles and was located on Kennington Road in south east London. Trading from this site for thirty years F.W Evans Cycles built up a strong reputation as a quality cycle shop and in particular building its own frames and bikes. In 1925 the company was presented with a silver plaque by the Cyclists Touring Club (The CTC) for ‘The greatest improvement in cycle design, construction or equipment during the year 1925’. The award was given for design and low cost production of a rear wheel dropout.
A random selection of reviews taken about this merchant. PLEASE NOTE: These are invidual opinions, and not our own experiences.
After finding the bike I wanted, which appeared as being in stock at a different store (delivery to local store promised within 14 days), I placed the order, totalling around £460.
Got a call today, advising this bike was discontinued (I'm aware) and no stock could be located (stock was showing on the website, and allowed me to order, and charged me), could I pop into the Canary Wharf store to discuss alternatives.
Feel completely screwed over, in one of those no-win situations.
Should I get a refund, and wait the week (at least!?) it'll take for Evans to refund to my card, and still be bike-less. (This would at least make me feel better about Evans not getting my custom after being so useless).
Or do I choose an alternative, of which, for my needs I'm not aware of any anywhere near the same price range.
Just wish Evans would get their act together, and UPDATE THE STOCK ON THEIR WEBSITE.
For the record, the bike is STILL showing as in stock. (Trek 2nd district 58" frame).
I'll be going along to the store, hopefully I'll get some sort of result! But it's very likely I'll just ask for a refund and find a company that values my custom
Please can the staff at the Cycle Point at Leeds railway station be given some training as to why they need to ask customers for their address when making a purchase.
I don't mind giving the start of my postcode, which I understand helps with marketing etc. but the attitude of staff at the Cycle Point left a lot to be desired.
When I objected to giving my full address and suggested I may shop elsewhere the staff member, rather than explaining why he needed my address, said fine and returned the tyres to the shelf. I was forced to endure this as I wouldn't have got home without the new tyres but I won't be back.
