The first shop was originally known as F.W. Evans Cycles and was located on Kennington Road in south east London. Trading from this site for thirty years F.W Evans Cycles built up a strong reputation as a quality cycle shop and in particular building its own frames and bikes. In 1925 the company was presented with a silver plaque by the Cyclists Touring Club (The CTC) for ‘The greatest improvement in cycle design, construction or equipment during the year 1925’. The award was given for design and low cost production of a rear wheel dropout.

  As it is many years since I last owned a bike I was a bit lost when it came to the kit available. My wife and I have just purchased new bikes and so wanted to kit ourselves out with some decent clothing, especially as we are starting in the winter. After looking on line we went to the Lakeside store and although they have not got everything in store that is on the web they had a fairly good choice of stuff. My only criticism might be that their could be more stuff for women. We returned a few days later for a car rack which they had in stock but I was a bit concerned about the fitting. The sales chap took the display one down off of the wall and we went out to my car where he demonstrated the fitting and took time to make sure I was completely happy. He then gave me some advice on clothing and tools as well as being chatty and a pleasure to deal with. I was made to feel a valued customer and provided with a lot of good advice and information without being made to feel intimidated because of my lack of up to date knowledge. All the clothing we've purchased seems to be of very good quality and the car rack (Sirus bones 3) is brilliant.

  Went in a few times to look at several bikes and spoke to several people. All were helpful in helping me pick my bike and telling me the good points and bad of each. Finally decided on a bike, went in and got my finance sorted and they help me pick some accessories and clothing. The bike arrived on the day that they had said along with my GoPro camera and it's riding like a dream.
