The first shop was originally known as F.W. Evans Cycles and was located on Kennington Road in south east London. Trading from this site for thirty years F.W Evans Cycles built up a strong reputation as a quality cycle shop and in particular building its own frames and bikes. In 1925 the company was presented with a silver plaque by the Cyclists Touring Club (The CTC) for ‘The greatest improvement in cycle design, construction or equipment during the year 1925’. The award was given for design and low cost production of a rear wheel dropout.

I have been searching for a bike shop that stocked the bike brand I wanted (Specialized) and was in the Cyclescheme. The choice came down to EVANS and another large local franchise. I decided to go through Evans because the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and they price matched against a rival mail order specialist even though I wasn't buying the bike outright ( most other companies either didn't sell sale bikes through the scheme, or didn't price match Cyclescheme bikes ), so I got a..
I have been using Evans cycles for about 2 years now.
My first experience was when I needed bearings changed on a 07 spark, this turned out to be a farce! They had a set of bearings up north somewhere but for some reason could not get them down to my then nearest branch docklands, this was only dealt with by complaining right to the top! Then the service was first class!
I have purchased loads of stuff! Shoes, glasses, hydro packs, clothing, helmets, tools and spares never paying full price for anything thanks to their price match policy! Dealing with people from their new shop in lakeside, which has very friendly knowledgeable staff!
The main thing I have purchased is my bike Scott Spark 10, after riding a friends one for some time (the one needing new bearings) I bought the 2011 model, I love everything about it, apart from I don't think it was checked properly before pickup! First ride handle bars came loose, not good when doing 30mph down single track! Then front derailleur slid down into the cranks. Then about 70 miles after the first check-up it developed a rattle took it in for them to look at, they adjusted the rear gears which did improve the shift but not the rattle, I found the rattle recently when I had a puncture and noticed the cassette was just about to fall off!
They did fit me in the next day and sorted it out ASAP however I don't think it should have come loose in the first place.
I will still use Evans cycles because the quali
