The first shop was originally known as F.W. Evans Cycles and was located on Kennington Road in south east London. Trading from this site for thirty years F.W Evans Cycles built up a strong reputation as a quality cycle shop and in particular building its own frames and bikes. In 1925 the company was presented with a silver plaque by the Cyclists Touring Club (The CTC) for ‘The greatest improvement in cycle design, construction or equipment during the year 1925’. The award was given for design and low cost production of a rear wheel dropout.

  Bike came on time and was great. A small problem - when I received my bike, the website said it had 21 gears and the bike came with 18 so they apologised and sent me £50 vouchers for a typo on their website - great stuff :) The problem came with the free service in Bristol Evans... All seemed well until my back wheel became detached from by bike (2 days after the service and I can guarantee it hadn't been tampered with) whilst I was riding it (luckily I wasn't going down park street but..

  I am a mountain biker, no longer in the first flush of youth, and I needed to buy my first road bike for 30 years for a trip to the Pyrenees.
  
  I found the staff at the Waterloo Road store to be friendly, knowledgable and helpful. None of my bone questions were too boring for them to answer. They quickly understood that I needed a comfy road touring bike with low gears and a relaxed riding position, and they happily let me try out all the bikes that they felt fitted that description in order to get the one that suited me best.
  
  What we decided I would want wasn't in stock, so they ordered it in, kept me well informed whilst I waited, and let me try this one out before committing to buying it.
  
  Then on top of all that, they price-matched the bike too.
